New options on the djembefola.com djembe rhythms page

While googling for the phrase ‘djembe rhythm’ I noticed that the results are fairly poor.

Djembefola.com have updated their page on djembe rhythms but it’s still mostly redirecting to other pages for now. I’m sure this will change in the future, but there’s still so much left to be done in the djembe space.

Patience :)

Finally, new online djembe lessons

I have it on good authority that there will soon be updated djembe lessons on djembefola.com. They release few djembe videos years back which were very popular, but there hasn’t been an update in ages and I’m glad to see some movement on this now.

Djembe buyers guide

Today, I found an article that gives advise for buying a djembe. Although extremely high level, it includes some useful advise that complete beginner or someone who’s never own their own drum will find beneficial.

Bubudi on the djembefola forum shared a cool video there last week:

Salif Keita and the Super rail band

Like some of the greatest musicians in Mali, Salif Keita started his career in the Super rail band in Mali.

I came across a cool blog post on another djembe blog today that points out a really cool book written about these rev0lutionary times in West Africa in the 1960s.

The book is by Graeme Counsel and is well worth checking out if you have an interest in Mande popular music and cultural policy.
